Aside from the obvious answer, "immersion" in the culture/language, from personal experience, what has been the most successful way for you to learn a new language? I have taken five years of Spanish and one year of Turkish in a classroom setting and I’ve learned a lot. But for French, Italian, and Latin I would like to try a different method of learning. Computer-based perhaps. If you have any personal experience or reviews of certain products, I would greatly appreciate your input.

I’m in High School and my parents have offered to get me Rosetta Stone for a gift. I really want to learn a new language. My goal is to become a doctor. I really want to know what language that would be most beneficial to me. Note I really don’t want to learn Spanish. Also Latin seems useful, but a waste considering I can’t go to a country and speak Latin to someone.

We want to learn a new language, and we want our children to grow up knowing a second language. We have almost set our mind on using Latin. Do you think Latin is a good choice? What do you think would be a good language?

First it was latin,the world wide language,because of all the big catholic stuff going on in Italy,but what about us?Today,country s world wide,not only they learn,but they speak fluent english.So when did it started?When did we become so high and mighty that we are that famous in world s international languages?About to move to the city of angels,so a brief history about the language of english would be nice.Thank you!

I’m going to buy Rosetta stone software sometime soon, and I’m kind of having trouble decoding what language to learn. I’m a native English speaker and I’m learning Spanish in school, and I’m heading in the direction of fine arts, biology, and world studies as far as my college major goes. would it be more helpful to learn mandarin, Latin, or something else entirely? help please!
